Rens

Yet another rant

Barclaycard are seriously shit.

So, my parents are in town and plan was to use their UK Barclaycards for shopping, this is first trip to UK since introduction of Chip and Pin and they couldn't recall their PINs. Thus, they requested the PINs be resent. Sure enough, two new PIN envelopes arrived. For my sister and myself! Still, I did at least confirm my PIN was unchanged.

So, my parents yelled at Barclaycard some more and new PINs are supposed to be en route. While we were discussing the situation and options, suddenly my mother realised that my PIN sounded oddly reminiscent of hers so we checked (probably very naughty) my sister's PIN. Yep, it was the same. And my mother suddenly remembered she'd stored hers away on her mobile (of course, it would have saved a whole load of grief if she'd remembered this a few days earlier...). And, yes, it was the same PIN!

So, seems Barclaycard issued all 4 card holders on this account with the same ******* PIN! Either that or it's a massive ******* coincidence... Secure my ass! I'm now just wondering, if I changed my PIN, would it change the PINs for all other 3 cards?

What a heap of shit. Are Barclaycard's systems really incapable of generating more than one PIN per account? Another thing which is disturbing me - hope it's just a coincidence but the first two digits of my Barclaycard PIN are the same as those for my new Amazon Mastercard...

Still, not inclined to sign up for another credit card just to test that theory...
