BSG button order

BSG
OK, I'm planning on putting the order in sooner rather than later, most likely this weekend. So, anyone who wants any (or indeed, anything else from Costumebay), please let me know by, say, Sunday evening and I'll put it in when I get back from Fort Widley.

Other things:
  • Got another Amazon voucher and I still haven't spent last one yet. And Amazon (well, Halifax really) has also raised my credit limit by another £1.5k! I guess I'd better put in my latest expenses claims ASAP then...
  • Prompted by a post by nightxade: Which X-Men have not died or been presumed dead at some point?
  • All efforts to resume watching SG-1 and Atlantis have bogged down spectacularly at around episodes 12-13 for both. Every time I put an episode on, I just seem to lose the will to live.

Apparently I was extremely bored and decided to check out SG-A to see what was up. I chose an episode at random and ended up with whales. Yeah. Whales. I am oddly uninspired to watch further.

Not dead X-Men? Hm. I honestly cannot think of any. Especially when you allow for the "presumed dead" factor.

Hey, it could be worse. If it had been SG-1 it might have been whales possessed by Gouald.

Re: X-Men. I love the way it's become so commonplace that the characters in the books are talking about it in that way e.g. Emma to Scott at Jean's latest funeral "That's what, the third time?" or Siryn in X-Factor refusing to believe Banshee's dead because he's come back from the dead so many times. Just wondering if anyone tops Magneto for most ressurections...

I thought Jean was on top of the list? And let's not even get into the "who's been cloned more" challenge!

Er... let's see...

Off the top of my head, on the Maggie front, he got stabbed by Wolvie in Genosha to stop him launching his genetic war, he (well, someone pretending to be Xorn pretending to be Maggie) got his head chopped off by Wolvie, Prof X shut his brain down (can't remember the arc but it was what led to Onslaught).

On the Jean/clones thereof front, there's the irradiated shuttle that led to Phoenix, Phoenix's suicide, Madelyne Pryor/Goblin Queen, Jean getting fried by Maggie/Xorn/somebody else... er... yeah, ATM Jean wins.

OK,maybe we should have an annual X-Men awards: most deaths, most dysfunctional family, most previously unrevealed family members etc.

Grr can't remember the title of this, but I remember all the fancy foil covers that went with it that I just *had* to have. Particularly the issue of Wolverine where Mags rips out his adamantium. This is one of my <3s of the third movie because they actually used the line and looked like they were gonna dooo eeet!

Hosted by Mr. Sinister.

Hosted by Mr. Sinister.

Doing a comedy routine with Omega Red?

"And this year's award for least convincing retcon goes to Kid Vulcan, the third Summers brother..."

Man, so, never mind all that stuff about marrying and losing a bunch of redhead telepaths who are clones or duplicates of each other, Scottie now finds out he has a third brother who just happens to be a bit of a mass murderer!

"And the winner, for the 30th straight year, of the most dysfunctional family award goes to... Scott "Slim" Summers!"
6th-Mar-2007 03:51 pm (UTC)
Yup. Scott and Jean would totally be banned from the awards when the others start complaining.

Kid Vulcan? Is that a real character? I thought Adam X was the third brother? *rolls eyes*

Seriously. Turns out that the Colossus, Wolverine, Storm et al weren't the first team that Chuck sent in to rescue the original X-Men from Krakoa. The sole survivor was a Summers brother taken from Mother Summers' dead body and force grown to adulthood. Chuck of course wiped all memory of Kid Vulcan from Scott when it all went pear-shaped. Many years later, Vulcan returns and he's pissed off, with Xavier, with the Shi'ar etc etc.

I shit you not...

Ah, a few more Maggie "deaths": he was presumed dead in the first story arc of Adjectiveless X-Men had him on Asteroid M as it burned up in the atmosphere. He was also presumed dead when Cassandra Nova's Megasentinel laid waste to Genosha (he was supposedly in a coma at the time but can't fully recall how he got that way).

Oh, does being reverted to infancy by Mutant Alpha count as a death?x

Adjectiveless X-Men

*snicker*

I don't think so. Storm was reduced to childhood, but Nanny did leave a body behind so it still falls under the "presumed dead" category.

Hmm... could have some fun with silly adjectives for X-Men books. The Implausible X-Men? The Resurrecting X-Men? The Inconceivable X-Men?
7th-Mar-2007 03:31 pm (UTC)
I thought they all had to start with A now? Anatomically Correct X-Men?

Or X. X-travagant X-Men? X-aggerated X-Men.
7th-Mar-2007 03:49 pm (UTC)
Not sure - there's currently also New X-Men (essentially latest incarnation of the New Mutants) and Ultimate X-Men. Nonetheless, both of those are still rich seams for silly X-books.

Angst-Ridden X-Men: team of teenagers and other miserable mutants, led by Slim Summers himself.
Amalgamated X-Men: To be launched when the popularity of the X-Men starts to decline
Assorted X-Men: A title for all those crap characters that never worked out
Antagonistic X-Men: All the ones with an attitude problem
Xenophobic X-Men: The ones who still feel strong ties of loyalty to their countries of origin
ex-X-Men: What do they do when they leave Xavier's?
and so on...

ex-X-Men: What do they do when they leave Xavier's?

They come back when the writers run out of other characters to create!

Assorted X-Men: A title for all those crap characters that never worked out

Ahh Maggot.
