A week off from fencing doesn't sound like a lot but it certainly felt like it last night. Embarassingly high number of flat hits on Ed as he took me apart 15-8. Also had a couple of close ones with Grant, losing 15-13 and 15-14 but again I could see my point going even wilder than usual. Bah. And to add insult to injury, the usual pub was closed so we ended up in some poncey place across the road. Well, at least it had bottled Spitfire.

Definitely got too many hobbies. Grant's off to the Nottingham Open this weekend but I'm off to the UNIT Planetfall lasertag game. I think I'm going to bail on The Men They Couldn't Hang in Kettering as they'll be at the 100 Club on the 16th (although that's the night before the Invicta competition and there's also a re-enactor's fair on that weekend too...). I believe this weekend is also a LOTNA meet. Next weekend is airsofting at the Epsom bunker on the Saturday and Fort Widley on the Sunday with a clashing militaria fair in Chatham.

Now, for this UNIT game, do I do 70s UNIT (wooley pully, brown beret, white grid pattern badge) or Battlefield UNIT (DPM, blue beret, winged globe badge)? Decisions, decisions...

[Edited to more accurately catalogue all my clashing event, academic though it is...]

Yeah LOTNA's on the 10th and it's the auction too!

Doh. Yes, of course. That was the first thing I noted when the subject of fencing at the Invicta was first mooted. At least I don't think there's any significant bits of kit I *need* but some posh clothing would be good.

Also won £30 of vouchers from Martin's Jerked Meats or similar in the raffle at the last one. Would have been nice to pick up stuff in person but, oh well, instead I'm off to get my ass kicked in Canterbury!

I saw The Men They Couldn't Hang in Blackheath a number of years ago ... obviously an enjoyable gig for those who hadn't seen them for a while, but sadly it didn't really call to me ... maybe it was an off night?

Too many hobbies! You should help run conventions, that would mop up your free time :-)

Saw them back in December, also at the 100 Club and thought they were magnificent. Love their blend of racous music and odd lyric subjects ie the Battle of Cable Street, mutinies in the Napoleonic Royal Navy but that definitely appeal to me as a bit of a history geek!

And, dude, I have no problems with mopping up free time as it is! Besides, I served as an event manager at three Who's 7s and Deliverance. I think it is significant I have not elected to work at a con since 1998!
