Car's been in for MOT. It's come back but 2 tyres needed replacing, as did a rear lens assembly. That plus MOT and 4 year car service charges = ouch. And got insurance renewal at the end of the month. Just as well I finally got round to paying in close on £700 worth of cheques I'd been sitting on since November and my employers have finally started paying in expenses by direct transfer...
The guy I spoke to at the garage commented that the car had remarkably low mileage and that's after (presumably) recent upsurge in driving to musters, fencing competitions and Reading. Then again, I don't drive to Horsham as much as I used to.
Latest (!) development in the HGST hard drive RMA saga. Mailed back to say the serial number of the returned drive mapped to a model number which was listed in their systems as a PATA drive and saying that if I believed I'd returned a SATA drive, I'd have to prove it! Pointed out to him that a quick check on their website showed the model number is for a SATA drive but some of their online literature does also list a PATA interface! He's now said it's been escalated to second line support. WTF? How hard can it be to verify if a drive in a returned package is SATA or PATA?!? I think Hitachi are definitely off my supplier list. I only started using them because they took over IBM's old hard disk operation but never ever had this sort of grief with IBM.
One very weird spam (?): got an email addressed to one email@example.com, apparently an order confirmation addressed to one Mr Van Looi, in Dutch from beet.nl which appears to be a Dutch language fishing magazine! Erm... anyone care to do some Dutch translation for me? Suppose there's the Dutch girl in the novice classes at ULU. How curious am I?
Still fencing-related: Jo's mentioned it's the Plymouth Open next weekend but the Great God GPS says it's a 4 hour drive. So I don't think I'll be heading down for that! Assume my usual competition alert system (Graham) didn't flag this for pretty much that reason.
Also amused to note both Liz and tlanti
are in the beginners classes at London Fencing Club, just on different nights.
Getting more and more baffled and irritated by just how high some people's feelings are running on the Horizon website about the new B7 audio dramas, a few individuals in particular. Sheesh. And I thought I took things a tad too seriously. Feel like switching my avatar and/or sig banner to something UNIT/UN-related!
Due to change of plans, looks like I'll be at this Saturday's pub meet after all.
