Ongoing hard disk saga

The defective drives were picked up from Reading. Next day, I got an email notifying me my warranty was being rejected. One quick call later, it seems the drives were found to be faulty but one was physically damaged ("side impact") which voided warranties. I bit my tongue and asked "So, what you're saying is that because you shipped me two defective drives and I sent it back as instructed ie in the packaging you sent them to me and used the courier that you sent to pick them up and it's arrived damaged, *I'm* out the cost of a hard disk?" "Er... ah... yes, let me check with my manager"

To be fair to him, he mailed back an hour or so later to say both drives would be replaced.

Then, this morning, working from home, I got a call from the loading bay manager at Reading saying a Citylink package had arrived for me. Oi vey. So much for my RAID-5-tastic weekend.

Oh well, guess I'll just reassemble a PC around the XP3000 instead and set it up with XP Media Centre Edition which, I hope, is arriving here today and not Reading.
