Xbox 360 arrived yesterday. I'd been toying with idea of getting one for a while, egged on by David who seemed to find the idea of him having got one quite some time before me equally amusing and frustrating. However, without Halo 3, it wasn't as compelling a proposition as it could have been. Then Dabs, of all people, mailed me with a good price on a bundle with Project Gotham Racing 3 and had sent me a short while earlier a "you haven't bought from us in a while, here's some vouchers" mail. Altogether too much to resist. Now, just need to order myself a copy of Dead or Alive 4...
As it turned out, it stayed in its enormous cardboard boxes (nested 3 deep, including the Microsoft packaging!) pretty much all day due to sudden surge of work. Hell, ended up unwrapping and setting it up over dinner!
Also meant I had to bail on fencing last night at ULU, which Kate amusingly referred to as my "exclusive West End club" - despite last having been a student over 12 years ago now, as an Old Boy of Imperial (and hence University of London), they'll let me in. Hoping to maybe check out Wimbledon tonight but it looks like a bit of a schlep, including a stretch along the South Circular, one of my least favourite roads in London.
Speaking of ULU, must have a word with Graham. Almost as soon as I registered on the club site/forums, they've attached a truly awful photo of me as my avatar, taken just after about so I'm knackered and dripping with sweat. Also somewhat amused that almost the first message I got from them was for *another* Social. That makes three in almost as many weeks. Guess Jo's right, they are students, after all ;-)
On checking diary, looks like I won't be doing the Leicester Open after all, it clashes with a Horizon reunion meeting. Given I haven't seen some of these guys in years, can't pass on that. Based on past experiences, not convinced it necessarily entails less embarassment than getting a good kicking at a fencing competition though!
