Top people!

As Poly's shut down for a few weeks for the Easter holidays, Kate and I decided to go back to Saxon tomorrow (need my fencing fix...). With the impending Bank Holiday weekend, I emailed Saxon to check they'd still be operating. The reply:

"Yes, sure is.
We only shut if Christmas is on a Thursday."

Superb! Does make me wonder though: what if New Year's Day is on a Thursday?

Goddamn, received an invitation to an interview with another consulting firm. Argh! Enough already! Sigh. Where were all these guys over the last 2.5 years?

what if New Year's Day is on a Thursday?
Then so was Christmas.

Uh yeah. Good point. I was just wondering if they'd close for New Year too.

Maybe they only close for all bank hols if Christmas is Thursday? *g*

Well, I can ask them tonight. Just need to make sure I'm only asking out of mere idle curiosity, not because I seriously intend to go fencing on New Year's Day...

...on a misty deserted heath at dawn?
18th-Apr-2006 10:09 am (UTC)
I have absoultely no desire to be up to fence at dawn on any day, let alone New Year's Day!

*g* Can't think why!

Have a care, lest I start mentioning some of the stories I've heard about people at competitions following a night on the booze. Let's just say kebabs and the strainer effect of wire mesh masks are some of the elements involved...
18th-Apr-2006 09:07 pm (UTC)
Um. Ew. And don't I remember you mentioning that you never wash those masks?....
18th-Apr-2006 11:18 pm (UTC)
Uh... yeah... seems like for almost everyone I know, airing has been more or less adequate to date. Somehow, it doesn't seem so bad when you know it's your sweat in there... I assume guys who've experienced the strainer effect have had them cleaned, somehow. I assume.

That makes a kind of sense. I spose it's a bit like sucking your own reeds (er, that's a reeded-woodwind instrument thing).

Oh dear God, how about that for a dodgy chat up line? ;-)
20th-Apr-2006 09:25 pm (UTC)
*snicker* Probably not *as* dodgy as one that a brass player would use.

Oh dear. Um. "Want to see my horn?" and so on. In the orchestral family, the brass are the lecherous drunken uncle...
